Flapper's Fives v Southgate County 3rd 11 - Saturday 26th September 2015
League away – Won 4-3: Goal-scorers; Gareth Fosberry, Tom Kelly (2) & Sam Pullum-Ward

Flapper’s Fives kicked off their league campaign in a Field a short distance from Wealthy Hadley Wood, where many of the Tottenham and Arsenal Players are thought to reside.

The pitch had plenty of grass, but could have done with a mow, but the Sun was out and it was scorching heat for first match of the Season and the Team looked immaculate in the New Yellow Football Strip, sponsored kindly by John Farrell’s company “Bateaux London” provides must-do Dining Cruise Experiences that combine fresh food, exclusive views of London and upbeat live entertainment to create one of London's most unique experiences on the Thames: . Many thanks to John and his Company.

Early play saw the Fives play some very good football.
We had a vocal and commanding goal-keeper in Dillon Kenny in goal and his attitude seemed to reflect well on those ahead of him.

Going forward in Tom Kelly, Dougie Maxted-Jone and Sam Pullum-Ward we looked very dangerous and like we could create and score goals.

We went 1-0 down when Dillon in goal made his only mistake and their striker capitalized on this and scored a cheeky back heel.

We were back in it 1-1 when Don Mackinnon did an “Archie Gemmill Run / Turn”, in the Oppo area and he played Gareth Fosberry who clinically finished a cracking move.
Second half saw the game become very open, as both teams went for it.

The impressive lone striker Tom Kelly put us 2-1 up.
The Oppo then equalized when their Pacey veteran beat the offside and run through at speed to score a good equalizer for Southgate County.

Sam Pullum-Ward then put us 3-2 up when a cross-come shot ended up in the oppo’s net.

There was an incident that happened that resulted in Southgate County’s Barrister and Sam both being sent off. I will not comment any further on this, but to say that what happened has been grossly misinterpreted by the Powers that be, and I hope that a current injustice against Sam is put right in the immediate future, as what happened is NOT SINE DIE!

10 V 10, Southgate County’s center-half brought them level with a volley from a corner. He asked Tom Kelly if he had seen his header.

As the Match was played out, it would be fair to say that a draw looked on the cards until Tom Kelly played through showed strength, calm and composure, after a solo run, to hold off their center half and place his the winner beyond the outstretched goal-keeper.

Tom Kelly Senior was inevitably Man of the Match followed by impressive performances by Thomas “Rambo” Kelly, Dougie, Gareth Fosberry, Don Mackinnon, Dillon and Sam.
