Flapper Fives v Ravenscroft Old Boys - Saturday 3rd October 2015
League away – Lost 2-1: Goal-scorer Tim Winter

Flapper’s Fives all arrived early for the Meet in another Leafy part of North London, and again it was a glorious day, and the Sun was shining.
Rob Johnson was clearly up for this Match as whilst the rest of the Team were in the Car Park he was standing outside the locked Changing Rooms.

We soon had to strip off and change in an Open field, which was not a pretty site for passers-by on a Saturday walk.

Pre-match our Opposition were warming up like a Professional Team and they looked extremely keen which is always worrying!

We had a different goal-keeper for the second week running with Adam Dougherty filling the posts, and Bradley Watts-Curran returning to play for the Club after 4 seasons elsewhere, and this two looked like they had been on the Bear Grylls Survival Course up the Road at Trent Park, that we passed as both had more hair on their faces than some had elsewhere!

The match started with Ravenscroft attacking us with pace, strength and good play.

Our goal-keeper Adam was immense in the early exchanges, and it was like we had Pat Jennings in goal, as he was at the right place almost every time.

Occasionally we did venture forward mainly down the left hand-side, but we did not create any clear cut chances.
Eventually we went 1-0 down when an Oppo player hit an unstoppable shot from outside the area, past our unsighted goal-keeper.

Our defence of Rob Johnston, John Farrell, Bradley Watts-Curran and Mick Ward were being truly tested, but stood up to the task.

Second half saw Flapper’s Fives draw level through an excellent long range effort from Tim Winter. This goal is an Early Goal of the Season contender, scored by a gifted player with a great footballing brain and touch.
James Landi and Nick Platon also both came close to scoring, and Landi particularly did not look out of place upfront and he caused the Oppo’s defence many problems with his pace and strength.

Farrell was throttled by their Captain, and it showed up the inconsistencies of this League that the referee did absolutely nothing, when he should have Done Something!
Our Oppo eventually scored the winner to runout 2-1 winners against a very resilient performance by Flapper’s Fives.

James Landi’s Gran-dad summed it up quite well in the Loyola after this Match when he said that our Opposition had 80% possession, and at times during the Match our Goal Keeper was a rock, and there was also an inspiring performance by Rob Johnston too in defence, and as I said he was up for this Match! Maybe I need to eat a Banana before playing? Tim Winter, Bradley Watts-Curran, young James Kelly and James Landi also played well too.
