Game 2

Ignatians 0 Wandsworth 4

Man Conor. Muppet Jack

Line up

Steve Peter Matt Jack
Sean, Callum OG
Conor Ren Eoin

Subs Jake,  Callum B,  Liam

Again we had the better of 1st half and had
half chances from Jack and Eoin. Conor
smashed home a free kick only for the ref to
disallow the goal as the kick was taken too
quickly. The keeper did well to tip the
retake around the post

So we got to half time 0-0 and well pleased
with he shift we had put in and the effort in
the hot conditions

2nd half  -  on came Liam Jake and Callum
Barton for Peter,  Eoin and Cal OG.

Again we seemed to start ok but early on
after a scramble in our box an oppo player -
turned and a tidy finish past Ryan saw
Wandsworth take the lead. Scrappy goal but a
momentum shift.

Then the bad old habits of the side
reappeared for the 1st time since Xmas. No
risks at the back approach went out the
window. First Matt got into a tangle with
their big centre forward,  hesitated , player
nipped in , Matt brings him down, clear pen

Then Jack got in on the act and slid a
Wandsworth player through with a great
defence splitting pass and the player went on
to score with a tidy finish

We chucked loads forward to try and get
something from the game but got caught with a
4th - game over and Wandsworth put themselves
in a strong position to gain promotion to the
Prem - a win against Fulham mid week, seals
it for them

Conor picked up the Man vote and Jack edged
out Matt on a tight Muppet vote

So a bit of an anti climax after an amazing
run since Xmas. A nine game unbeaten stretch
including  6 wins on the bounce- after being
rock bottom at Xmas with 4 points and clear
favourites ro go down

Jake pointed out that our run ended after we
stopped training and he's right - I don't
think that's a coincidence

So another season is over

Thanks from me to Ren in his first season as

On reflection, overall a really enjoyable
season. Team spirit, banter has been great
and everyone has really looked forward to
playing every Sat. Not a single match report
has been missed and 17 of us are out next Sat
to spend the 'fine kitty' and end the season
with a bang. Sean McD and Tommy did well
getting the lads to cough up all season

A special mention to Peter OG, slotted in at
centre back after at least a 10 year gap from
1st team football and never once looked out
of place and hardly missed a training session
either - a role model for all the lads. If he
can keep himself fit at 55....summer fitness
camp needed for some of the other lads

Congrats to Conor who looks like he will pick
up the golden boot as the club's top goal

Speedy recovery to Tommy who suffered a leg
break against Southgate

If only we had started the season the same
way we resumed after Xmas.....who knows what
we might have been playing for yesterday.

10 weeks till pre - season!
