5X1 V Minchendinians Lost 5-2

There is a scene in the Karate Kid where Mr Miyagi lets Daniel Larusso down in his training by getting hammered on saki and banging on about Mrs Miyagi (RIP), unfortunately the 5X1 captain let his team down by arriving at the game slightly inebriated and conducting his team talk from the Loyola bar whilst the team were on pitch. I would like to apologise to the team once again but like Mr Miyagi I will rise from the pits of alcohol debauchery to lead my team to the All Valley State Championships and we will defeat those dastardly Cobra Kai at the end of the season.

The 5X1 cheerleaders of Connor, John F and myself were delayed in getting to the 5X1 pitch as we stopped to watch the 1X1 playing who were very impressive and intent on playing proper football. Unfortunately we had to leave after 5 minutes as Tony Brady scared the life out of us by announcing that he was wearing a strap on!

On arriving at the 5X1 game it became apparent that this was a celebrity game. Minch had Terry Nutkins of the Really Wild Show on their flank, the ref had taken time off from being the Chief of the World Police and in fairness President Obama had  a fairly good game. Our own celebrities were out in force too - Neil Warnock (Phil Mac) John Parrot (John O Brien) G@y Tony from Eastenders (Peter Holly). Unfortunately the power of the bald mullet led to us being 3-0 down at half time.

Half time led to Brady and Rob Johnson making way for Steve McNicholas/MacDonald and Jon O Brien respectively.

We were a totally different team in the second half. Great games were had by haystack aficionados Ford and McKevitt and at times Inspector Cowley was unplayable. Jamie who had come on for a 20 minute kip suddenly woke up and was a constant menace up front and really intimidated the Minch defence. The back four gave no quarter and asked for none and Ruane and Top Gun battered tirelessly in centre mid.

We were playing so well that Foxy Knoxy tweeted she was up for a roast if we were to win.

We scored two great goals both coming on the back of sweeping passing moves scored by Inspector Cowley and Ford.

As with last week we were the better team in the second half but that's no good if you already a good few goals down.

We know what we have to do from next week and it will come lads - we just need to believe for the whole 90.

MOM when to Inspector Cowley who was immense (Steve McNicholas/McDonald was a close second again with some great saves).

McKevitt and Ford are unavailable this week as they are going to L'Oreal hairdressing exhibition in Newcastle.

Great turn out by the whole team after game after the bar - fair play to all.

Tom Barrett/Christopher Harrington watch - no shows again this week as they have stayed in America where they are holding a candle-lit masturb@tion vigil outside the Apple HQ in a homage to Steve Jobs

Triggers Corner....................

No report from Trigg as he was on a Jolly Boys outing to Margate. Pharellette cryomether was down on last week to 20 decibels.
