The Space time Continuum has baffled scientists for years, the concept of time itself certainly baffles someone whose time at Turkey Street in science lessons was spent trying to blow things up which ultimately led to the blinding of Kenneth Rowley (who knew Hydrochloric acid was dangerous?).
Thus timekeeping of players is at an all time low. Three lads from Donegal were late as they'd refused to pay the 10 euro levy from Knock airport and thus had to get a ferry over. The Durkan brothers attended a Peter Andre book signing and were injured in a stampede by mentally retarded northern 8 year old girls trying to get a glimpse of the "the Andre"
McKevitt managed to turn up on time despite having been attacked the night before outside the Fox pub after an arguement about hair straighteners got out of hand.
Tom Kelly was doing a spot of fishing on the Turkey Street bridge and kindly offered to goal for us.
A fine system will be in place next week lads. It's a p1ss take on your team mates, the ref and the opposition to be left waiting on a pitch (Many thanks to Mick Ward for offering his subs to the 5X1).
The game..............
We played Edmontonians today who are top of our league, undefeated and had beaten us 7-2 earlier in the season.
For the first time this season we were up for this game from the KO and attacked Eds with the vigour of Michael Barrymore at a Swimathon.
Debutant Kennedy was a real live wire up front and didnt let their back four breathe.
Our midfield of Ford, Ruane, McKevitt, Holly and Gunn battled for every ball and kept the ball on the deck with flowing passing moves.
Kennedy had already troubled their keeper numerous times when Ford cut the ball back after a mazy run for Kennedy to leather the ball past Eds keeper.
The rest of the half we were in complete control though another debutant, Donegal Shane, rescued us on a few occasions with solid defending.
We started brightly enough in the second half but Eds upped their game and it was end to end stuff.
On more than one occasion Tom Kelly came to our rescue and at the other end our shooting should have better.
McHugh and John Joe of Nazareth came on for an injured Ruane and Ford and both settled in well.
Our full backs PJ and Gearoid Durkan played brilliantly against a pair of nifty Eds wingers.
Unforunately with 5 minutes to go we took our foot off the pedal and Eds punished us. After a scrappy corner their big no 9 finally shook off Pharrell who had marked him out of the game and beat TK to the ball to head into the net. All our heads dropped and in the final minute after some kamikaze defending we allowed Eds in again and they won the game in the last minute.
Galling to lose this way but it goes to show we can and WILL beat any team in this league as the season progresses.
MOM - went to Kennedy, great debut.
Tom Barrett/Chris Harington/Tom Mullarkey watch - no shows again this week. All three are being held on attempted child abduction charges after they were found attending Disney on Ice with cable ties in their pockets.
Trigger's Corner.......................
No show again this week, received a garbled voicemail on Friday night and could only make out the following:
"Cant make Soho........................oh look, there's Craig Revel-Horwood...............................breach, down, man down"
Yours Sincerely,
Edmund Dantes
